Archery Marshal’s Report

Greetings,

I would like to offer my congratulations to Their Stellar Majesties, Miguel
and Conal, and to Their Excellencies Baron Mahdi and Baroness Valeria on
their ascensions to their respective thrones. May they rule long in good
health and good fortune.

We had no practices the first two weeks in January due to Twelfth Night and
Coronation. Lord Jacques the Spink held two Advanced Archery practices in
the afternoon in preparation for those who plan on competing in Royal
Huntsman Jan. 31. There will be no practice on Feb. 1, as I plan on being in
Stillwater to cheer on our competitors and to offer my assistance to Don
Elric if needed.

In February we will have some fun. We will resume regular practice on Feb.
8. Children will be welcome to join us that day instead of the usual
children’s practice on the first Sunday of the month. I am planning two fun
shoots for February. On Feb 15 we will play ‘cupid’ with a twist; we will
shoot arrows of war, not love, into the hearts of ‘Trimaran opponents.’ This
will be a static target shoot and not a combat shoot.

Feb 29th is leap day and we only get one of those every four years so we
have to have some fun with it. I am trying to come up with some shoots that
everyone can enjoy and participate in.

I am looking into holding Wintershoot for novice archers, in March. This is
a contest that Midrealm holds every year and invites everyone in the Knowne
World to submit scores. The whole thing is shot from the 20-yard line so
everyone has the potential to do well with it. Keep your eyes on this space
next month for more details. Novice will be defined as anyone with a Royal
Round average under 45, ranked Bowman or Archer, and has not won a
competition in the last year. Everyone may shoot, but only the novices will
be competing for a prize.

If any of you have any used protective gear such as arm guards, fingertabs,
or gloves you don’t use anymore, we would love to add them to our loaner
gear. Lord Jacques has been providing some of this stuff, but I can’t afford
to provide it myself at this time. Your donations of any good used equipment
of any kind would be gladly and gratefully received.

Come on out and scare some targets with us!

Lady Linet Grey
Archery Marshal, Steppes
