Sounded like fun to me, either as a joke *or* as a good idea!
This isn't aimed at anyone or intented to start a firestorm: just food for
thought.
Folks, should we be independent thinkers and learn to have, and to protect
having, good, clean, innocent fun? Should we remember that, no matter what
the law, the rules, good judgment, simple logic or pure courtesy would have
us do, there always will be people who refuse or fail to obey, accept,
exercise, invoke or display any conformance to them? Is that a reason to
deny others the opportunity to wear something they enjoy, or in other ways
to have harmless fun? Somebody who misbehaves should pay appropriate
consequences. Otherwise, "an ye do no harm, enjoy thyself." Isn't that
what freedom is about?
Those of us who get our laces too tight over "what could happen" (other than
watching out for true dangers, which we all should do) might think about
"enhancing your calm."
Kripes, there is absolutely *nothing* fun, interesting or absorbing that
can't be completely shut down if someone only invents, or uses, some facet
of the *potential* down side of it to cause others to jump onto a censorship
bandwagon. Think what that might mean to our activities in life as a whole,
including in the SCA. "Let's not have a theme that includes kilts and
bodices so no irresponsible person has an opportunity to 'flash' our young
... Better yet, let's outlaw them altogether, just to avoid the
possibility." Dull, dull, dull. No individuality, no color.
Ride Well,
Ronnie.
