The small picture that appeared in the left margin of a recent DMN issue barely does justice to the effects some of the entrants have achieved. Elizabethan ruffs, Italian Renn, German "pumpkin pants", parasols, walking sticks, chapeaux, fans, trains, tunics, etc. etc. etc. Makes for a pleasurable browse to review the pictorial archives. Some of the plaids achieved would even challenge the legendary Tiernan's fashion sense, I believe... ttfn - Mike / Pax ... Kihe Mike C. This is a 1840-1910 village set up to show what life was like in North Texas back then. Similar to the Heritage Farmstead Museum, for those who know the place in Plano. They have asked not only for demo-ers, but also craftspersons who want to sell items, for their July 4th event. You do need to have your wares vetted, and they should fall into the appropriate timeperiod. I don't know about everybody, but I do know SCA craftspersons whose goods can pass for 19th Century or who also do later periods of work. Here is the announcement (it has graphics, and I don't know if they will come through, hopefully the text will): 28th Annual Old-Fashioned Fourth at Old City Park Sunday, July 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m We are seeking heritage craft vendors whose work is consistent with the 1840-1910 era theme of Old City Park. Old City Park will provide a free location and table for set-up, asking nothing but 10% of the day's gross receipts. The number of vendors will be limited and anyone interested must submit (by mail or by email) photographs of their work, so that we may ensure its consistency with the mission of Old City Park. We are specifically seeking weavers, broom-makers, and basket-makers, but are open to all kinds of heritage crafts. Dallas' longest-running Fourth of July celebration at Old City Park: The Historical Village of Dallas. This year's theme is "Backyard Barbecue," featuring delicious barbecue prepared onsite by Texas barbecue specialist Eddie Deen. Parking is free. Tickets are $5 at the gate, or $12.50 for admission + Eddie Deen's barbeque buffet. If you are interested in being a vendor, please contact: Joseph Flipper or Melissa Prycer 214-413-3671 214-413-3671 Intern at oldcitypark.org mprycer at oldcitypark.org They have a small notice on their calendar: http://www.oldcitypark.org/calendar.htm I will be there with fiber workers, so if you want to knit or crochet or embroider or spin WITHOUT selling items, let me know. Some of us will be in costume, but they have not required it for demo workers in the past. They just ask that we work on things that are not glaringly out-of-period. I used our last one to work on socks for a mother's day gift. We had six archer's participate from all skill levels and abilities. In the end, it was Lord Kerrick who won the event, having snatched victory from Lord Corwin, who led by a considerable amount until the topsy turvey round did him in. Corwin and HL Katya shot their highest Royal Round scores to date with a 67 and 40 respectively. My thanks to Katya for being my #1 helper, Corwin for helping with set up, take down, and providing lunch, Ingwulf and Zander for stringing safety tape through the woods, Lady Francesca for soothing frayed nerves, and to Lord Brendan and Lady Anne for remembering us with water, pickles, and oranges. Thank you also to Lord Agilwulf, Lady Sunnifa, and the Canton of Lindenwood for the opportunity to put on this little competition. Bring on Warlord!
