[Steppes] Wormy?

Actually, his condition was given to us over a week ago on the apprentice
list and because of the policy on that list about forwarding private emails
we could not really forward that to any other list without permission. No
one thought to forward it to the Steppes list but I believe it was forwarded
to the Elfsea list.

"Wormy was born prematurely, and his aortic valve was malformed. Instead of
having 3 parts to it, it only has 2, and was therefore weak to begin with.
..... They have done multiple EKG's and at least one Ultrasound Doppler
study, which looks at blood flow. " There was additional damage to his aorta
and they had to graft one for the surgery that just took place.

The bacteria Wormy has in his blood is Streptococcus bovine, the suspect
item producing the bacteria was a tooth that was extracted while in the
hospital.

The contact person with the hospital directly is "Beth Wolff"
<wolffsrun at sbcglobal.net>. I believe that she is working with a few others
around to keep us informed so just be patient for now and they will keep us
up to date. :)

Keep praying, ring bells, and challenge him at scrabble when he gets out of
ICU. :)

:I believe Wormy has the same disease as my mother,
: endochronitis (forgive my spelling). She first
: contracted it about 20 years ago and was in the
: hospital for 5 weeks. Doctors told her then that she
: would have to be very careful because it could come
: back. In late August (this year), she recognized
: symptoms and went back to the doctor, and sure enough
: she had it again. The bacteria attacks the heart
: valves first, and although she has not required
: replacement surgery like Wormy, she does have
: permanent heart damage. Even without the heart
: surgery, she has been in and out of the hospital since
: August. It is a long tiring recovery as high powered
: antibiotics are given by IV for weeks on end!
: I wish Wormy a full recovery but know that it will be
: anything but speedy.
