[Steppes] Steppes Fighter Practice - 12-12-2004

Heilsa,

This past Sunday was more like early Spring than being almost the middle 
of December. The warm was cool and the sun was bright. Of course, the 
final count down for both shopping for Christmas and the your favorite 
teams that are/were still in the reach of a playoff berth being played 
as well that afternoon.

Thus attendance were a bit light, but it always is this time of year:

Hosey and children - Tori, Jon and Nikko.
Roc
Hrafn
Mike and his son - Mikey.
Josh
Doc
and Michael

Total in armor:  7
Children:   4

Total attendance: 11

Fights that I recall:

Hosey with buckler and sword vs., Hrafn with round and sword.
Hrafn fighting with glaive vs Josh fighting with fighting sword.

Switched to 2 on 2 Melee:
Josh with great sword with Mike fighting with buckler and sword vs Hrafn 
fighting with round shield and sword and Roc with shield sword.
Mike with round shield and sword and Hosey fighting floretine vs Roc 
with shield and sword and Hrafn fighting with buckler and sword.

2 on 1 melee:
Mike with buckler and sword with Josh fighting with great sword vs., 
Hrafn round shield and sword.
Roc with shield and sword and Mike with round and sword vs. Hrafn 
fighting with buckler and sword.
Hrafn fighting with buckler and sword and Mike fighting with round and 
sword vs. Roc fighting with shield and sword.

There were additional fights going on, did not see them as I was 
practicing combat archery - shot two full quivers.

Plus, provide calibration to Mike as to the different between what a 
sword shot felt like vs. that of a combat arrow and a 30 lb recurve bow. 
He was surprise with how the combat arrows were striking. He had 
inspected some of mine and thought that they would NOT hit like they do.

In two weeks - January 2nd will be the 3rd Joint War Practice combining 
both baronies, Elfsea and Steppes. Mark it on your calendar, if you have 
not already done so.

Next Sunday is the 19th, the last weekend before Christmas - it will be 
the last shopping weekend as well. A small group of fighters have stated 
that they will be practice. So if you have got your shopping done (or 
NOT) and feeling the need to let off some steam, come out and put on 
some armor and switch some rattan.

This small group are making plans for December 26th, yes the day after 
Christmas. Currently, the plan is to make it to fighter practice at the 
usual time - 2 PM. The idea is work off a little of that dinner from the 
day before.
