Greetings Good Gentles,
Tuesday night HE Muireanne will be unable to host Scribes Guild at her home.
We all hope she feels much better very soon.
At my home, one mile from Muireanne's, I will teach a hands-on class on the
early 14th century Flemish painting style with lifelike flowers, fruits and
bugs in the borders. This "Fool the Eye" style was seen in the Champion
scrolls I made for Warlord this year.
The class will cover how to do the shading under the floating items, and
making little splotches for highlights on trees and bushes and flowers in the
grass, and how to merely suggest the city on the hill with impressionistic
strokes of paint.
It will also cover the history and use of this art style, and it's flower
symbolism.
I will teach this intermediate level class at Kingdom Heraldic and Scribal
Symposium.
Everyone is welcome whatever your experience level at painting scrolls.
Please bring a chair you can sit and work in and if anyone has a folding card
table it would be very welcome.
Feel free to bring your own paints and brushes. Students will be given a
pre-drawn sketch to practice the painting on, and we will look at examples of
the art style from various sources.
If you have any art books with good pictures of this style please bring them
as well, I may ask to copy some of them.
If you plan to come please email me so I may have enough practice materials
for every student.
Note -- we are a multi-cat household, with no carpets.
