[Steppes] Steppes Fighter Practice - 7-17-2005

Joint War Practice:
I have been informed by Lord Hrafn, Steppes Knight Marshal, that the 
next Joint War practice will be held in our sister barony - Elfsea.
Date:         August 7th
Location:   Veterans Park in Arlington.
Start time:  2 PM

The day started hot and the calm - by noon the wind had picked up and 
brought a refreshing feel to the day which remain true through out the 
day. Clouds did start to gather and at times looked as if they would 
release their moisture upon the dried and cracked earth, elsewhere it 
did rain, only not in Carrollton nor the park.  The high for the day at 
DFW was 94 F, yet it seem far less during practice.

Overall, this past Sunday, was indeed a great day to be in armor and 
being with friends in the park. There was some heat but nothing compared 
to the last 3 or 4 weeks. Those who came out despite clouds had an 
enjoyable day.

Once, again people paced themselves, brought out water and gatorade, 
went out and fought, came back off the field and cooled down and
replenished their fluids with water and/or gatorade, etc.

A reminder - please bring at least 1 gallon or more of water and 
gatorade. I recommend 2 gallons of fluids and snacks to replenish your 
energy levels. There are two water fountains in the park, plus there are 
several stores close by that carry these items and more.

Sword and Buckler
Spear - fiberglass

Armor construction continue as well with some interesting discussion on 
varies methods to reach the same results.

As always, a gathering at one of the local buffets in the area took 
place after practice. A chance to continue various discussions on wide 
ranging subjects of armor, fighting methods, etc. All are welcome to 
join in the gathering.
 
Schedule:
Regular schedule fighter practice - every Sunday starting at 2 PM.
Mary Heads Carter Park in Carrollton.

Gothic War:
Labor Day Weekend - September 2nd through 5th
Sweetwater, Texas - it is the old site
Heavy fighting melees on Saturday, with tournaments on Sunday.
Amazon household's 25th year anniversary, should be some partying going.
