My friends,

It's that time of year again, when the air turns crisp, days grow short, and
one's thoughts begin to turn to the holidays. Thanksgiving, Hannukah,
Christmas...traditional foods...cookies, Pumpkin pie, mincemeat, latkes,
cranberries, and of course....turkey.

It's also time for the Turkey Shoot, a fundraiser for the American Cancer
Society. Cancer has touched all of us at some point in our lives. It has
touched several within our fair Barony in the past couple of years and so I
chose the American Cancer Society as the charity to benefit from this little
fundraiser. Your donations will go to support their efforts to fight this
disease and hopefully end it's plague upon all of our houses. Last year we
earned $105 in this little event. I'd like to see the sum grow this year.

This year's shoot will be on December 11 with an alternate date of Dec 18.
The turkey raffle will be held no later than 12/18 and the winner does not
have to be present to win. I will deliver the bird to the winner if they are
not in attendance.

The format this year will be a little different. Tickets for the turkey
raffle (a 20# turkey, approx. weight) will be $5 or 3 for $10, and will be
unlimited in number. For an additional $5 entry fee, archers will compete
for a $20 gift card from Wal-mart. We will hold a potluck brunch at the
shoot, so all are encouraged to bring something yummy to share. I will have
a Coleman stove and coffee, tea, and hot cider available.

The location for this event will be the Eastfield College Archery Range near
I-30 and Motley Rd. and the time will be 10 a.m to 2 p.m. The shoot will be
done at the archer's own pace so that one can arrive as late as 1 or so and
still compete. Last year we had a lot of fun and had a lot of delicious
goodies to munch on. Limited loaner gear will be available for everyone to
use.

I will be at business meeting tonight dnd either myself or a representative
will be at populace and the December business meeting, as well with further
information and tickets. I can also be reached at sueorintx at hotmail.com,
972-429-8985 or 972-896-1505 (cell). Please no calls after 10 p.m.

I hope that you will join me in this. We lost one of our own this past
spring to cancer and have others within our 'family' that still fight it.
This is one battle we can fight together and win.

In service,

Lyneya de Grey
