The good Jarl and Warlord was even funnier when, after all was said and
done, he strode back before the Crown, huge grin upon his face, and said to
His Majesty, "I got out of court!" - even more amusing since it was our King
who sent him forth to face the Valkyries in the first place.

An enjoyable moment in a day full of enjoyable moments: Mistress Juliana's
simple procession and graceful elevation; Master Robert's moving ceremony,
which was only exceeded by his procession; Mistress Stella's procession, the
inspirational words spoken on her behalf, and That Hat; and Master White's
(you're welcome, Philip) endless bouquet of Roses. The Feast. The
Valkyries, who were Trouble If I Ever Saw It Coming. The Feast. All of the
costumes, which were beautifully made and so cleverly enhanced (I almost
expected Puss in Boots to do figure eights around His Excellency's legs).
The Feast. Don Benedict's most Excellent new Hat. The Feast.

And the bards. Dona Antonia, my dear friend, what I have to say to you, I
cannot say without sounding kinda like a big brother of sorts, so with that
disclaimer: <brother hat on> I remember when you first began gracing this
Kingdom with your angelic voice in competition. It was not so long ago. I
remember encouraging you, for whatever that was worth, to keep competing and
keep growing. And from that moment to this, I have had the joy, as has
every other true Ansteorran, of watching you develop into one of the best
this or any other Kingdom could offer. Your boundless energy as Kingdom
Bard made me feel tired just watching you. You truly made this art into a
service for this past year, and I am so proud to see that you've become the
leader in the bardic community that you have. The fact that your title has
been passed to HL Katrina, who is also a dear friend of mine, makes me
especially glad. Katrina, you see, is one of those that first encouraged me
to become a bard. OK, enough fawning ... <brother hat off>.

While it was a joy to visit with so many friends from across the Kingdom, it
was the Barony of the Steppes that made it possible. Your entire staff from
your Stewards to the smallest of your clean-up helpers deserves a huge
Vivat! for their efforts.

Can't wait til Warlord!
