Stanley M. Hordes, Adjunct Research Professor,
Latin American and Iberian
Institute, University of New Mexico

Professor Hordes will outline the history of
the crypto-Jews of New Mexico,from their origins
in the forced conversions of Spain and Portugal
in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries,
down to the recent past. Hordes is the Director of
the Sephardic Legacy Project and the author of a
forthcoming book (Columbia University Press, 2005),
