You might give Bernard Cornwell a try.  He has a good Arthurian series with 
a lot of historical basis and another series set in the Hundred Years War.  
There are some fairly graphic battle scenes, but I don't recall any explicit 
sexual content offhand.  It has been over a year since I've read them 
though, so you might want to double check.
