[Steppes] Steppes Fighter Practice - 5-08-2005

Heilsa,

This past Sunday was Mother's Day - as all were aware of, thus some had 
planned all day and others plan special times for this day. It was a 
laid back type of day, with people slowly arriving throughout the 
afternoon, in some cases after their time with Mom and/or their love 
ones. While others arrived to suit up in armor and do some fighting, 
then spend the evening being close...

A rain at last visited upon the area during the night, with the forecast 
of more to come. Yet, by noon the sun was out and there was little if 
any breeze.  As the day advanced the sun hid behind clouds of gray and 
the wind picked up and at times carry a hint of chill as if winter 
wished to linger into this month of May.

Note - a large number of good gentles were present and I missed 8 or 
some by my count of those who were present.

A meeting held by those who are working on Warlord XXXII and all the 
activities that have come to be expected for such an event was held. To 
know what was discussed, well you will have to come out and see at the 
event the end of this month.

One-on-one fighting and training took place this day, no melee practice 
was involved this day.  At least one authorization fight took place this 
day, Lord Agilwulf the Loud being reauthorized by Centurion Morgan, the 
Central Region Knight Marshal. A good many had taken part in demos for 
the last two days and some who had come out and visit did not wish to 
fight again, but still wished to visited to related just how good the 
demos and the movie - Kingdom of Heaven were.

The result at least 3 individuals, who were at one of the two demos 
arrived at the park during the fighter practice, that I am aware of came 
out with questions and all present came forth and answered. All the 
while, the one-on-one fights were happening in front of them.

In additional, a young man (13) who have been in the park for the last 
couple years stopped skateboarding longer enough to ask questions about 
fighting. Explained that he could become involved in the Youth fighting 
portion of the SCA due to his age - answered his questions. Suggested he 
should ask his parents to come out with him due to the rules requiring 
those under the age who wish to fight.
 
As usual a number present gathered at one of the local buffets for 
Sunday dinner and discuss a various and far ranging set of topics. All 
are welcome to join in.
