[Steppes] UPDATE on volunteers at Reunion Arena

I was finally able to reach Ann (Sister Merry Tarry), who is running the
volunteer area.  She said that they are in the process of moving to a new
location at Reunion Arena and thus it's to receive cellphone calls.  

VOLUNTEERS ARE WANTED - Must be 18 and over (bring ID as proof), NO tank
tops (T-shirts are OK), wearing CLOSED-TOE shoes only (no sandals).  Just
show up, you can sign up for Red Cross (ops and logistics) or Salvation
Army (feeding people).  You may want to call ahead for the Salvation Army
to be sure you will show up when you are needed.  The Red Cross will take
untrained people but also wants to train people for other jobs if you're
willing to give the time for training.

FOOD AND BEVERAGES:  Ann asked if people would wait a couple days to drop
off donations while they finish moving.  I am willing to act as a
collection point if people don't want to go down there.  Ann said that
Wal*Mart and other gift cards are very useful because then she can buy what
is needed when it is needed.  She also asked that people call or email to
check that something they want to buy will be useful, to prevent six people
from delivering the same things.

Again, since they have NO refrigeration facilities, they need things that
can sit around waiting for people - bread, peanut butter, protein bars,
dried fruit, fresh fruit such as apples that won't need to be refrigerated,
individual cans and boxes of juice or other beverages, individual snack
packs of almost anything.  They are not trying to provide meals to the
volunteers, but snacks to keep them going between meals and late at night.

Ann said that she can check email a couple times a day, so people can email
to her at charis_doula at ATT.NET as well as calling at (515)971-8762 and
please leave a voicemail as it's hard to get phone reception there, she'll
call back when she's in a wired area.

If people can pass this along to the Ansteorra and Chirurgeons list and
anybody else whom you think might be willing to help LOCALLY instead of
outside the Kingdom, please do so.
