[Steppes] March 25 in Anstoerra history

Interesting, I've had the honor to call myself a
Steppes archer for a little more than eight years
now and that is the first time I have ever heard
this story that I can recall.
  
Thank you your Grace for reminding those of us
newer to the Society of our group's honored past,
it should never be forgotten!  

Do we know any more about who John was?  What deeds
John did to become a Hero of Ansteorra?  And if
John still plays within the SCA?
