This is an open call for anyone who might like to appear in a short, five minute video. The Video Association of Dallas is having their seventh annual 24-Hour Video Race, starting at 11:59PM on Friday, May 16, and running through midnight Saturday, May 17. For those of you not familiar with a video race, teams meet at the starting line and are given a theme for the video to be shot, a line of dialog that must be included, a location that must be included in the video, and a prop that must be used. The teams then have exactly 24 hours to write, shoot, edit, score, and deliver a finished video of no more than five minutes back at the starting line.

Teams compete against each other by team size and by age categories. Our team -- Station PBJ Productions -- is competing in the Guerrilla category, limited to no more than five crew members. Actors, however, DO NOT count as crew. What we are looking to do is develop a pool of talent on standby that we can call on Saturday May 17 to basically drop everything and run out to wherever we're shooting, read a few lines, maybe do a pratfall or two, and generally witness an exercise in controlled insanity.

Because we DO NOT know what we will be shooting until, say 3AM that morning (and sometimes we won't know even by 11PM that night), we can't tell you exactly who we're looking for. We're casting a wide net and hoping to get a talented pool to draw from, once we (sorta) know what we're doing. We need men, women, children, plus if you have any animals that do particular stunts, they might get in as well.

I checked the kingdom calendar -- it's the weekend before Warlord and nothing else is scheduled.

Here's the rundown:
This is an unpaid gig. If you appear in the video, you get a DVD of the video and our heartfelt gratitude for helping.
Actors don't have to stay the whole 24 hours -- that's just for the crew. We'd probably only need you for a few hours Saturday.
This isn't high theater. We're talking a five minute (or less) short, maybe six pages at most.
We will let you know early Saturday if we need you.
Most of all, it's fun. No, really -- it's FUN.

Last years' theme was Wrong Turn, the prop was a musical instrument, the location was a flagpole, and the line of dialog was "You don't owe me anything." Our entry was Three Wrong Turns in a Tight Sewer Pipe, and can be seen at:

The crew also WAS the cast, something we're trying to avoid this year. The SCA is full of talented people, and we'd like to exploit that. Who knows? We might even do something on a medieval theme.
