Good Gentles of my SCA Family,

I hope that all who can (and even those who can't) read this message have a safe and wondrous Thanksgiving.

While this holiday celebrates the harvest and the family, it is also a time of reflection. What have we done with our lives this year? Have we tried in our own small way to make the world a better place? Do we do our best to behave with chivalry, culture and nobility in adverse circumstances? While we all have much to be thankful for, we need to think about all those things in our life that bring us joy, friends and family, as we don't seem to do this often enough.

As a people and a country, there are dark days ahead such as have not been seen since the Great Depression that began in 1929 an did not end until 1941. Pray that all our leaders receive the wisdom, insight and courage to make the difficult decisions that lie ahead.

Pray also for all our brave military men and women. Whether in actual combat or not, all are in harm's way. These are those who sacrifice so that we can have the lives we do.

For myself, I will not be giving anyone expensive Christmas gifts. Any monies I can scrape up will go instead to food banks and other good causes to help my brothers and sisters who have been devastated by this economic catastrophe.

Keep yourselves safe if traveling. Try not to eat too much (That isn't gonna happen for me -- too much wonderful food). Enjoy your day and the weekend. I hope that your holiday gives you all the joy your heart can hold.

YIS,

Lady Fionnghuala the Fair "Nuala" and/or Liz and/or my evil twin, Cedric
