This is from my uncle in IN.  They are just across the river from Louisville, KY.  Ike certainly took control and let us know who's boss....

Finally got our elect and phone back on. (phone on and off)  Almost everyone had roof damage and trees down. Mom said Jim lost his roof on the house or a tree fell on it don't know for sure. .  Was on CNN last night on the news about Louisville and southern Indiana and Georgetown. Gas is almost $5, if you can find a station open, now at some places.  Bread,and milk is hard to find.  6 people killed so far from the  wind  (81 mph) .Can't Believe we had no rain.100,000 in southern Indiana still without power and schools are close till further notice.  Still dry. Like something you see in the movies.
