[Steppes] Going, going, gone

Greetings to the populace of the Steppes,
I wanted to remind you all about business-y opportunities and activities in the Barony:

If you want to be on the financial committee, you need to get an application to me, HL Katya, and HE Katheryn by midnight tomorrow night (8/31). We have 4 applications so far!

I am still taking applications for my deputy (email me with your intent and reason for wanting to be the Seneschal's deputy). I will be making a decision on this at the beginning of September. I have three people who are interested so far.

If you are an officer of the Barony, you will need to begin working up your 2010 budget. The budget needs to be finalized by the end of September. HLKatya will have more on this and is in charge of this effort. Please be thinking about your areas of responsibility and your expected expenditures for next year. We are accepting applications for the office of Quartermaster. IF you are interested in this position, please apply to HL Katya (the quartermaster is a deputy of the exchequer), HE Katheryn, and me. The Newsletter will have the formal due date for this office, but we usually keep things open for about 2 months.

We will also be accepting applications for Archery Marshal and Historian. More on this in the September newsletter.

Bids are closed for Twelfth Night!  I will be announcing the name of the event steward at business meeting. We left bids open for quite a few months. If you intended to send something in - I'm sorry but we had to choose someone and get the ball rolling for this.

Bids are currently open for Steppes Warlord. 

Regarding Populace -  we had a really great time at August populace. Lady Lena and Lord Erich von Ossenbrugge graciously opened their home to a rabble of rowdy gamblers, but I think we all had a good time.  We played La Bete, hung out, and had some really great food. Thanks to them for hosting!!! We also decided to cancel November Populace due to schedule conflicts and Thanksgiving. Enjoy time with your family that month. Next month's populace will be at the home of HL Jaque the Spink and his lady Symone in Southern Steppes. They have a lovely backyard with a firepit - bardic anyone?
