Well, given that I am recovering from such surgery right now and there are a number of others within the Barony that have or had cancer at one time of another, I like the idea. It will be awhile before I am back up to full speed but count me in. It would be great if the barony got to be known for doing a few public service things as well. Who knows? Maybe we can even get a team in some kind of garb or the like that makes sure we are recognized as a group.

In accordance with Saqra's challenge, an idea hit me today that I thought that I would throw out to the group and see what kind of interest I can stir up.
The American Cancer Society along with several cities sponsor Relay for Life. It is a celebration of survivors and a chance to remember those lost to cancer. It is a fundraiser for the ACS but also a chance for people to get together and spend the night sharing their memories and hopes for the future.
I was wondering if the Barony would be interested in getting a team together.... Garland has their relay the first weekend of June. Other cities hold theirs at other times. I know that Plano has one as well as McKinney. Each team member would be required to raise about $35 (I think that's the min) and of course there is no max. The event starts about 7pm and ends at 7am. The event is held at a track and the team is required to have at least 1 member walking at all times. There is entertainment throughout the evening. I thought that it would be really cool for our team to dress in garb to promote the SCA too.
Anyway, let me know what you think. If we can get a group of about 10 folks together, we'll see about getting this rolling.
