Thank you, then I apologize if I misinterpreted the rules. I may also still have been short on some of the facts as well. All I wanted to do was calm things back down to where reasonable discussion could take place.

Just a quick note on this: Susanna did not exceed her authority. She is the legal representative of the Steppes, and it's her job to make these judgment calls. She did so after consultation with all the proper people in the Barony, and she has her superior officer's (that would be me) full support when she makes a decision like this after full thought and consultation. Whether or not one agrees with the decision is a personal matter, but Susanna did her job properly.

I was trying to find out some facts, but yes - it was rude. I now have some of those facts, that the seneschal did consult with the marshals, I don't know yet however whether or not the marshals agreed to the cancellation. In any case, cancelling one weekend of practice is not going to "kill" it forever - there is always next Sunday. Or the Bedford Boys Ranch practice. And how many people have a backyard practice these days?

This blew up way out of hand very fast when it SHOULD NOT HAVE, maybe it is the summer heat...

I'm just trying to be a calm voice of reason here, and my suggestions are as follows:

First, everyone take a step back and take a deep breath before you hit "send" again.

Second, I suggest the seneschal rescind the practice cancellations and let the individual marshals handle their individual practices. Suzanna's heart is in the right place and a warning to be careful in the heat is never out of place. If in this case she slightly exceeded her authority, it happens sometimes, let it go.

Third, marshals keep an extra careful eye on your fighters, make sure they stay hydrated, and if someone starts to look a little wobbly get them off the field and cooled off before something really bad happens. Also think about moving to the cool of the morning instead of the heat in the middle of the afternoon. Target archery did that and it is working fine.
