[Steppes] regarding the spam on the Steppes forums

I use a MAC, so there aren't that many hackers interested in such a
small group. I agree with Alais Capet in "Lion in Winter" when she
remarks there is no glory in hurting her since she is the least of
Henry ll's worries. I also keep the spam barrier at its highest,
inconveniencing some initially, whom I do want to exchange emails with.

I have problems with getting invitations to be Facebook friends with
people who have said they didn't send it and also for names of people
I don't know and again from people I only saw last at a funeral
several years ago and could contact me if they wanted to. (They have
my phone number.) I am so tired of Facebook and Linkedin.

What I want to know is how Facebook can keep connecting me with those
three groups when I am assiduous about not getting involved with
things like Facebook. Can anyone tell me what is going on? I even got
an "invitation" on my small-numbered "Family and Close Friends" address!

IMHO, the latest evidence is that networking businesses are NOT
careful with what they know, and they DON"T "protect your privacy." I
figure it's better to contact the person off-line and set something
up privately, or to have a specific list like this one for limited
interests.

Wondering,
HL Lete
