Just passing along a message from the Media Relations Deputy...

Just an FYI. The Society Media Rep just sent out some news that I thought to
pass along as the topics have been discussed on the Ansteorran Request email
list and the Ansteorran Equestrian list.

1. There has been a request to SCA, Inc for riders for a History Channel
show "Full Metal Jousting" from Pilgrim Films. The SCA, Inc has considered
this request and decided *not* to act on the casting call (meaning not to
post it to the SCA discussion groups) or participate in the project.
Obviously this casting call has gone out through some non-SCA forums, and it
may show up on some discussion groups or e-mail lists - and that's fine.
People are certainly welcome to share this information as individuals. If
anyone asks us about it, the response is simply:
"The SCA is aware of this project and has declined to participate in its
production. Any SCA members who choose to contact the production company are
asked to represent themselves as individuals, and not as members of the
SCA."

2. SCA, Inc. has received and accepted a media proposal from a production
company to do a documentary called "This Is No Fantasy" directed by Ben
Hedrick, and they are working with the Calontir Media Liaison. Mr. Hedrick
is collecting donations through his own website, which is fine - the SCA
should *NOT promote* his fund-raising efforts. (i.e., Raising money to make
his movie is his responsibility, even if it is about the SCA - so please
don't forward the message on to e-mail lists, etc.) To be clear, there's no
problem with SCA members donating to his project - but the group should not
participate in, or promote the fund raising efforts of another for-profit
organization.

Thanks all,
Baroness Cristyana Lambrecht
Ansteorra Media Relations-Deputy Seneschal
