[Steppes] Gulf Wars thanks

I have to say that Baroness Genevieve and I had an awesome time at Gulf
Wars. The Steppes camp went off as well as we have ever seen. We built a lot
of camaraderie and had a great time.

First off, thanks to Baroness Honour for being our land coordinator. I think
everyone will agree that there was plenty of useable space, and we were
arranged in a way that promoted community.

This year we brought the baronial pavilion, and everyone pitched in to make
setting it up and taking it down a breeze. There was a kitchen organized,
and it and the fire pit became the focal point of our little slice of
heaven.

We also as a barony participated in the hospitality tent that fed all
comers. Baroness Genevieve cooked up oxtail soup for 400, and Rhonwen and
Christianna helped us serve it.

Thanks to our baronial guard, who escorted us in the procession.

I know all of our youth had a great time fighting, and learning new things
like archery and blacksmithing (and singing the song that never ends), but
special kudos to Ingvarr who placed 2nd in the Triskelion tourney as well as
winning most chivalrous, then the next day winning another youth tourney.

Speaking of winners, we hear that HL Katya did pretty well herself in
archery. =)

We had several new adult fighters with us this year: Dmitri, Dorn, Karl,
Jon, and Lori did an awesome job of representing the Steppes.

Also exceptionally important, thanks to Lady Cait, who organized a website
and Facebook Group to help keep things organized.

Thanks to Baroness Katheryn, Lady Annwn, and Lady Falcone for donating to
the kingdom gift basket.

Seriously, to thank everyone who helped make such an awesome camp for
Steppes would be listing everyone from Steppes that went... including those
who camped with other groups, but still managed to come pitch in.

Genevieve would like me to end our note by thanking everyone for picking up
after themselves and leaving the area as we found it. It makes things a lot
easier on our land coordinators and the event staff, who were just as
anxious to come home to real showers and flush toilets as we were.

Now the question is "who's going with us next year?"

Vivat Steppes!

Baron Duncan and Baroness Genevieve
