Greetings!  Been a while since we have had an official archery practice within Steppes so we have taken on the task of resurrecting that activity ourselves.

Not official yet however I would like to invite our practice deprived archers to join me noon Sunday July 20th at the Westlake Sports Center, 601 Gross Road, Mesquite TX 75149, 972-289-5326.

They have yet to quote a group rate for reserving four lanes on the first & third Sundays of the month so those attending will be charged the regular rate ($2 for Mesquite resident, $5 for non-resident and $1 youth with an accompanying adult) unless we can settle prior to that date.  I don't see that as too expensive myself and hope that is not a problem for anyone else, and that is the fee for noon until dusk, go & return as much as you wish.  The early pre-trial will give us enough insight to
see how well they can cope with us and we them however I do not foresee any problem.

I would request we attend in costume, bring your day pavilions to set up behind the firing line, ice chests with snacks & drinks to keep yourselves comfortable in the heat.  And do not forget your folding chairs!  Try to pack light as it is about 50-75 yard walk to the archery range behind the tennis courts.

The range rules are basic common sense baring stupid & destructive behavior otherwise our SCA target archery rules are stricter than theirs, and our rules shall be enforced for our activities.

If a day of un-official archery practice at what might become our next official practice location appeals to you.  Please come help us give it the test drive so we might see how well it works!  Just has a precaution please leave your belt knives, axes, swords and other weapons off your costuming for this time, yeah I know the law but it is a city park so let's please just avoid that conflict for now, thanks!

Should you know you are going to plan to attend please drop me an private email confirming the number in your group so I can get a head count.  Also I would not be apposed to having a pot luck archer's revel should we have enough attending.  Bring your personal banners, might as well make it a full show for the mundanes attending!  You never know when you might be talking to a future crown that just hasn't found their calling yet!

So we hope to see you there, if not please wish us luck with our resurrection effort!

Regards to all,

Ironwyrm
