My friends..... do you remember how YOU first heard about the SCA? When did you see your first knights fighting? Your first piece of hand made feast gear or hand spun fabric? How about some of those weirdos dressed up in funny costumes and speaking in a strange tongue? When did you first see people dancing to Rennaisance music? WAS IT AT A DEMO???? Many of you will have to answer yes. Our demos are the most important way we recruit new members. Demos do not man themselves, and I do not have people stashed in my closet that I can bring out for the next demo. As with many organizations, we rely on YOU to help, to talk to the people as they walk by, to impress them with your garb, your manners, your artistic endevours, your fighting prowess, your shiny armor...... and you. In a couple of weeks, we have a very important demo coming up. Can your Barony count on you? Many of you have not been 'playing' recently. Why not? This would be an excellent time to catch up on the latest gossip, and to show some of the newer members that there are those who remember what it all means. In service to the dream we all share, Bre'nain MacGilla Pa'traic, Steppes demo coordinator To sit alone in the lamplight with a book spread out before you and hold intimate converse with men of unseen generations-such is pleasure beyond compare. -Yoshido Kenko, Japanese Buddhist Priest and Poet (born-1283)
