Because in those days we didn't think in official and unofficial events those little events were just as much of "an event" as Warlord. The barony would help us with funds. Most of the time they made money. We had people come from all over the place for them. Usually they were paid for by the crew that did them. The sponsoring group was anywhere from 6 to 10 People. Joycelin really liked doing everything herself. The rest of us would hang around and when she needed more people jump in. I worked on a lot of those events. I remember buying chickens and stuff out of my weekly food budget. We would all pitch in some money and even if the event lost money we would get part of our money back. This was wonderful. It was like an income tax return. One of my favorite event like that was a 150 person Saint Crispin feast put on by Mistress Aurelian and Mistress Branywn. It had some other people in charge, but I am sorry to say I have forgotten them. There were 12 courses based on the signs of the Zodiac. I was Libra. I was also in charge of serving. I had 8 servers and we could serve the 150 in 10 minutes. We also changed the color of our tabards for each course. The food was great. Ragnar was a centaur. He looked real. Mistress Branywn had made the horse part. I missed most of the signs because I was busy changing tabards. I would be willing to work on your event if we could get enough people to support it. Your event sound like fun. Maybe we could start small and had a fete in someones backyard. I would like to see a plague party or a Banned by the church party. We did an Aesop fable masque in someone backyard in Elfsea and it was fun. I might be inspired to do a couple of wall hangings for that. We did a faerie court a couple of times and that was also fun. We tried a Japanese Moon viewing, but that was too Zen for me because the night we tried there was no moon. We drank sake and wrote poems. We thought they were great. I think because of the sake I always wanted to do a Lamas day party with a bread tasting. Of course that is the same day as Lugh, but we could have on some other weekend then Aug. the first. I think we had an Irish cehida(can't find proper spelling-- an Irish Party) somewhere that I have lived and it was fun. It had a dead body and we all made fantastic toast to the fictional person. I was at another little event at a persons house were we moved all the furniture out and turned off all the lights we had Irish stew and bread on wooden bowls and sat on pillows and benches and hay?? and told Irish stories. The person running the event welcomed us to his small home. He spoke with a really thick Irish accent and explained that normally with guests everyone would be naked but because we were foreigner that they would not do that unless we wanted to. We had a man running from a lord, who we hid and the lords men busting through the room. It was lots of fun. We had receptions for visiting nobility and at one sponsored by Viscountess Megan a plague rat was found and we all ran out of the building. It was funny to watch Mistress Megan face. We did a late period gambling den. With cards games and dice and a fight between ladies of the evening. I had to come in my latter period persona ( Mary Katherine Anna Louise Sullivan Caldal Barrnet) because I (willow de wisp) did not have costume for event. Someone was going to have a feast in a bathhouse, but I didn't get invited to that. I think they thought I was too stuffy. I am pretty sure that didn't happen unless the Valar did it. All of these, except St. Crispin, happen in someone house or backyard and the gambling den happened in an Apt. We did do a Crusader Tavern in a club house of an Apt. building. willow
