True, and I post this publicly to hopefully put a cap on this. I'm pissed and fed up with this shire. You caught the brunt because of your post. I have put on two demos in the last six months. The first needed work but was OK over all. The second had people bailing out like rats from a sinking ship. You posted that you would be at a RavensFort event that was canceled soon after your post. But you weren't at the demo. Hardly anyone was at the demo. Watching my attempt to get a demo and maybe breath some life into this group die a painful and embarrassing death then seeing you posting complaining about lack of reply pissed me off. Your fault? No, bad timing and lack of tack, perhaps on both parts but maybe just me.

To my view, this shire is in the category of walking dead. As in still shambling along with a semblance of life when it's long dead and stinks. The long-term members are fading into the woodwork it seems. Most of the officers don't or never wanted their jobs, several have shown or stated they don't really know what those jobs are. I see members of the shire who go without recognition for their efforts while people in other groups get praise dropped on them for far less.

This isn't fun any more folks. I want little to nothing to do with the SCA anymore. From the start this shire offered me nothing more than the opportunity to help and maybe pass on some of what I have been taught over my time in the SCA. No peers to learn from, the fighter base was just starting back up, and I live too far away for me to try to build much with my work schedule. A couple of fighters took some advantage of that, one or two people looked at my library. I stayed because I liked some of the people, I hoped I could help and maybe make a worthwhile contribution.

If it seems I am harping on my upcoming deployment I should apologies. But I don't really feel like it. This group is so caught up in it's inner struggle it's disgusting. The tension and animosity at meetings and on the list is enough I wonder if my hard suit or my body Armour is more likely to be useful to me.

I feel really bad for the newer members of this group. This is not the SCA, hopefully you will survive this group and find the SCA elsewhere. I wish you luck and my offer of information and help is still open as time and deployment allow. For the rest of it, I'm done. I have more important things to do with my life than watch people tear at each other in a hobby. I'll maintain the friends I have made I hope, but that is about it.

You asked for a response even if it was to tell you we wouldn't be there. That was a response.

Alasdair who wonders why he even bother.
