WR - Just a nice little thing

			BUTTER KITTEN

A kitten went a walking one morning in July;

He idly fell to talking with a great big butterfly

The kitten's tone was airy; the butterfly did scoff;

Along came a fairy and whisked his wings right off.

Now that it's written that fairies do such things--

Upon the little kitten she placed the yellow wings.

The kitten felt a quiver and rose into the air;

He flew down to the river to view his image there.

And then his heart was smitten, and he began to cry::

"Am I a butter-kitten or just a kitten-fly?"
