"Gem lore" would be a sort of show-and-tell of various precious and
semiprecious gemstones with their associated "stories" from medieval
times.  Examples would include that turquoise was worn mostly by men and
horses to insure sure-footedness and no falls.  Some gemstones were
ground and used for medicinal purposes,  while others had uses as charms
or talismans.  I continue to collect stories, and find this a fascinating
subject.
