WR - Noble's Archery Shoot at ATYC

Greetings and Hi there,

Sorry about those multiple listings.

After some discussion, I believe these are the finished rules for the
competion.  Please feel free to ask questions.  If I missed something, we'll
take a look at it.

Sunday moring of ATYC there will be a "Nobles Archery Shoot".  There will be
two divisions of the shoot; a recurve/long bow division and a cross bow
division.  Only that type of weapon may be used in each division.  Each
Noble (Court Barony and above--ie, those folks who may wear brass hats) may
sponsor a team of two archers to compete for them in each division.  The
Noble may or may not have the sames archers for both divisions.  The archer
is not required to (but may) have the same sponsoring Noble for both
divisions.

A prize per division entered is required from the Noble to enter a team into
that competition.  The Noble who sponsored the winning team of that division
claims all for that division (maybe they'll share with their archers).  The
Nobles are encouaged to provide their archers with the Nobles colors/arms.
The team should also have a herald to announce their entry onto the firing
line.  Any other item which might safely add to the pageantry of the
competition is encouraged as are side bets among the spectators.

The competition will be a progressive range competition shot at a 60 cm 5
color target, such as the type used in the IKAC.  The starting range will be
20 yards.  Each *team* will be allowed to shoot 6 arrows at each range they
qualify for.  All teams qualify for the first round shot at 20 yards.  There
after, to qualify for the next round, a team must score at least 1 point on
the target.  The second round will be shot at 30 yards, 3rd at 40, 4th at
50, etc.  The range will continue to increase each round untill there is
only one team scoring on the target, who will be declared the winner for
that division. However, if a round has no one qualifing, the previous range
will be reshot by those who had qualified and the highest score will win.

Each team in the recurve/longbow division will have one minute to shoot it's
arrows at each range it shoots.  Each team in the crossbow division will
have one and one half minutes to shoot it's crossbow bolts at each range it
shoots. Each team may distribute their arrows among themselves as they chose
as long as each archer shoots at least one arrow that round.

There are no poundage limits on the bows or crossbows; however, a blow
through or a fall out counts as a *miss*.

All bows and crossbows must be able to be safely shot in the space alloted.
If it is determined that a bow or crossbow is too powerful to be shot in the
space provided, then the archer must either reduce the bow/crossbow's
poundage (if possible) till it is safe for the range, use another
bow/crossbow that is safe for the range or sadly, withdrawl.

Only IKAC legal bows and crossbows may be used.  No compound bows.  Only
IKAC legal arrows may be used.  That means feather fletched wooden arrows
are required.  Broadheads are not allowed.  If any one needs those rules let

There is no age limit.  All archers must be participate in the competition
in a safe manner regardless of age.  Other safety rules will be explained at
the range.

The range will not be open for practice Sunday morning before the
competition.  Please get in your practice earlier in the weekend.

Perhaps, time allowing, the winning teams might have a go at it; starting
say at 50 yards.  Prize, if any, to be determined by the Nobles involved.
