WR - All Hallows Eve...

It twas the night before Halloween,
And all through the camp,
Not a creature was stirring,
Except maybe a few vamps...

Greetings one and all! All Hallows Eve is quickly approaching, and the
year's effort of Crossrode Keep to present our "Halloween" themed event
draws near. I hope my brethren here in the Western Region will all make
plans to attend the event, which will be taking place at the Water Valley
Park. Thanks to HL Agnarr Thorvaldson, there will be a very helpful map in
the October Blackstar if you need directions.
There will be activities for SCA'ers of every age, including:
*   Heavy Fighting Tourney... Double elimination, with a
special "All Hallows Eve" twist... A special award will
be given to the fighter who wears the most unique
Halloween costume on the field... hehehehehehe
*   Light Fighting Tourney... Swiss Five, also with a
special "All Hallows Eve" twist... same as the heavy, so
dig out those costumes, and hope they fit... hahahahaha
*   Bardic Competition... Bards may enter any piece they
wish, but special points will be awarded for pieces
based on or around "All Hallows Eve."
*   Arts and Sciences Competition... All types of entry
are welcome, but as with the bardic special points will
awarded for "All Hallows Eve" based entries. Be
creative!
*   Children's Activities... Kids will not only get the
chance to make their very own trick or treat bag, but
will also get the chance to use them as they take a
trip around the camp for some sweets.
*   Feast... As Halloween remains a rather controversial
subject among researchers in the Society, so shall feast.
Get ready for a down home, West Texas style treat.

Also, please remember to bring candy for the children's trick or treating...
I hear several of them have rather "nasty" halloween surprises for those
hapless souls that forget their sweets...
We can't wait to see everyone, but until then... keep your doors and
shutters locked, and don't look under the bed!
