wal, hit's springtime in West Texas, and the twisters by are near
jest tuck yer hat some closer down, thar's nuthin' there ta fear
them thunderheads air bringin' rain, may not drop it here
if they do, be  short an' hard, mayhap a stone or two

cold too, comes from way hi up, a blessin' ta th' ground
grows the grass,  fills the tanks, makes cattle fat and round
quail can nest, deer can graze, coyotes run the rabbits down
can't stand the heat, nor rain, nor wind, jest turn yerself around
