Greetings to all,
     This post is to remind everyone of Crossrode Keep's upcoming event , July 22nd-24th.  Please mark your calender's now.  There will be heavy fighting, light fighting, A&S, archery, Knife Ax and Spear, bardic, and several children's sctivities.
     Just to have a little bit more fun during these heavy and light tournies, there will be a few added attractions.  First, all fighters must have someone that they are fighting for.  This person must be over the age of 14 and not entered in the tournament themselves.  I do appologize to the couples that fight together for this inconvienience.  It would just be very hard to pull this off if you ended up drawing each other for a bout.  This person you choose will be handed 2 small beanbags to be thrown during your bouts to help you win by landing a killing blow with this projectile weapon.  Each person with beanbags is only allowed to throw from a 2' x 2' square from opposite corners of the list feild.  Only 2 bags may be used per person for the entire tournament excluding last round.  The last round will be the last 4 fighters in an everyone for themselves battle of the best 2 out of three.  No bean bags are allowed in the last round.  I am in need of Marshals, inspecting marshals,
 and a list mistress.
     The A&S competition is a no documentation required, by populace vote competition.  Also we want to recognize our future artisans in our first Children's A&S competition.  Same rules as the adults only artisans must be no older than 14 yrs of age.
     The childrens activities, as of yet, include:  drum making, drumming, banner making, and story time.  If you are interested in passing on any of your skills to our youth please contact me off list and I will do what I can to accomodate you.  I would love for this event to have enough activities to last all day, without 1 person having to be stuck with them all day.  Let's teach our children where they can fit in our society because they are our future.
     Bardic will be a no themed, by populace vote, competition.  It will be a 2-4 peice competition depending upon participation.  A fun Bardic for no real title will also be done this year.  Be prepared to think fast on your feet because the entire competition is improvisational.
     Archery shoot is a target shoot...still working out the details.
     Knife, Ax, and Spear...need I say more.
     Also this year Lady Simone has asked to coordinate a bardic symposium.  If you are interested in teaching something please contact her at simonemu at gmail.com .  The site is wet in period containers.  The event will be held at the Sweetwater Lake Park (old Gothic site).  Further details will come as the event gets closer.
