Greetings!
Yes, as our brave warriors gear up for Gulf War, I want to remind everyone
of our fun CeltFest demo April 14 & 15, on the athletic field of Odessa
College.
This year's Fest will incorporate the Western Region's regional fighter
practice. Please remember that in order to enter the grounds free, we
need your name on the Fest volunteer list, you need to be in garb, and you
also need to show up as a worker for the SCA demo area. That's not much
to do to help our SCA grow in West Texas.<G>
The CeltFest is extra fun, with music (acoustic to hard rock), vendors
(the medal makers will be here again this year!), and food (a good variety
of fare is offered at different vendors).
New things we're doing this year include more hands-on activities for the
Fest visitors--we got the okay at Crescent Wrench this year to incorporate
a whack-a-knight venue using boffers, for one thing. Also, we'll be
offering classes at our demo area. Please see the Fest website
(www.texascelticfestival.org) for a current listing of classes. (Look
under the "workshops" heading--we even have a link to the Ansteorra
website!)
If you have classes/demos you'd like to present, like dancing and period
music, please let us know and we'll do our best to incorporate them. Hope
to see a big bunch of us there!
A shameless plug: this CeltFest bunch is a great, hardworking group of
folks, and they could really use our volunteer help in setting up and
taking down the Fest grounds, if any of us are available to help. There
are lots of big tents, pavilions, chairs, tables, stages, sound systems,
etc. to haul and set up. Just thought I'd mention it here.<G>
Thanks to everyone!
Your friend (and festfiend)
Lady Elewys
