They're not silly<G>
The only difference between a non-calendar event and another SCA function is that no Kingdom awards can be given. These can be hosted by any group of people, if your group does not have a bank account, the money must come from other means. For example, the Centurians are planning to host an event and they are doing fund raisers to earn money for it. When the Roses host thier event they get a group (last year it was Shadowlands) to put up the money. When the autocrat hosts Lysts, one group will handle all the money. People sign in and therefore are covered by SCA insurance because they are either a member and you take thier number, or they sign a waiver. NMS is charged for anyone who pays full price to get into an event. If there is no charge there is no NMS. If adults are $5 and kids are $4, the kids don't pay NMS.
Does that make sense?

Subject: [Western] Questions about non-calendar events

Greetings!

I have some silly questions:

Are non-calendar events still insured under SCA event insurance?
Is non-member surcharge mandated for non-calendar events?
Can non-calendar events be hosted by households or guilds?

Just wonderin'.
