<P><font size="+1"><B>The Western Region of Ansteorra is proud to present a Regional Arts and Science Symposium.
This will be a day of fun and learning. Classes will begin at 10am and continue in 1 hour increments until
6pm. Master Cadwallder will be hosting a feast around 7pm. Feast is limited and reservations are encouraged.

<P><A NAME="SITE"></A><B>SITE</B></TD><p>
The site will be the St. Paul's Luthern Church in the Shire of Crossroads Keep (Big Springs,Texas). The hall will
open to the populace at 9am. A special requirement of this site is that nothing is hung from the walls. Therefore, if you wish to display
banners, please make sure they are free standing. <P>
Site fees will be: $5 for adults, $3 for ages 6-12, and children under 6 will be free. There is a family cap of
$30.00. Please make all Checks Payable to "SCA - Shire of Trelac".<P>
Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. <p>

<u>Directions to site: </u><p>
>From Dallas/Ft.Worth take I-20 West to Big Springs. Exit at #177 and turn left to go over the bridge.
Once you cross the bridge go 1.5 miles and the site will be on the left.<p>
>From Lubbock take Highway 87 South to Big Springs. Once you cross I-20 go 1.5 miles and the site will be on the left.<p>
>From San Angelo take 87 North to Big Springs. Once you pass Furrs & Quality Inn (on the right) go 1.2 miles.
The church is on your right and is the first right turn after Martin Luther King Blvd. <p>
>From Midland/Odessa take I-20 East to Big Springs. Exit at #177. Turn right on Highway 87 South.
Go 1.5 miles and the site will be on the left. <p>

Mistress Marthe will provide instruction on the painting of leaves on porcelain. All necessary materials will be
provided.<P>
<A NAME="Soap"></A><u>Soap Making by Lord Konrad-Lothar von Engelstein - 10am</u><br><P>
<A NAME="Arrow"></A><u>Arrow Fletching by Honorable Lord Agnarr Thorvaldson - 10am</u><br>
A basic crash-course in the art of fletching arows or
crossbow bolts using several types of jigs, and needed archery materials
taught by HL Agnarr Thorvaldsson. All materials will be provided.

<A NAME="Archery"></A><u>Archery/Range Combat Field by Honorable Lord Agnarr Thorvaldson - 11am</u><br>
A basic overview into the equipment used on the Archery Range and/or on the Combat Field. This class
will be in a relaxed format and will include which types of Combat arrows
are allowed on what combat fields and the ways to inspect all Archery
Equipment before it is used for safety and proper construction per Kingdom
and SCA Regulations.

Basic discussion of what to expect from the SCA and what the SCA expects from its members. Discussion of involvement levels and persona play. How to get involved and stay involved. How to survive 20 years and
still enjoy it.

Mistress Evelyn will be providing instruction in Country and Court Dancing from Europe. This session will
be available to both children and adults. Beginners through Experts are encouraged to attend and dance with us.<P>

A class on the use of leather in armour throughout the SCA period most specifically the use of cuir-buille (people spell
that all kinds of ways) which is hardened leather and how to apply that to armour used on the field. In other words how to make period leather armour.<P>
<A NAME="dance1"></A><u>Country and Court Dancing instruction by Mistress Evelyn Dumonde - 2pm</u><br>
Mistress Evelyn will be providing instruction in Country and Court Dancing from Europe. Beginners through
Experts are encouraged to attend and dance with us.<P>
<A NAME="Mundanity"></A><u>Period Military Dress in the SCA by Lord Jasper Condrington - 3pm</u><br>
This is a class covering period military dress and how to make fighting garb that is period to cover armor. How to put together proper battlefield attire and so on...<P>
<A NAME="knife"></A><u>Knife Sheaths and Basic Leather Tooling by Lord Thorgrim the Red - 3pm </u><br>
This class will cover basic leather tooling and painting/dying techniques. It will also cover the basic construction
of knife/sword sheaths made from Leather.<P>
<A NAME="Bead"></A><u>Glass Bead Making by Lord Chiang Ti Lung - 4pm</u><br>
This is a basic class in the making of various types of glass beads. It will also cover some safety tips and such<P>
<A NAME="Inkleloom"></A><u>Inkleloom Weaving of Beaded Trim by the Honorable Lady Adelaide Walcheman - 4pm</u><br>
Honorable Lady Adelaide will be teaching you how to beads are woven into trim or belt on an inkleloom. This is especially
beneficial if you have done inkleloom weaving before but it is not necessary. If you wish to string yours up during
class and try this process please bring your own inkleloom and any yarn/thread you desire.<P>
<A NAME="EMB"></A><u>Embroidery by the Honorable Lady Augustina Minerva de Orleans - 5pm</u><br>
Serveral and various types of embroidery stitches and how to apply them in the SCA.<P>
<A NAME="HERALD"></A><u>Field Heraldy by Lord Gerrold Von Drachenhohle - 5pm</u><br>
This class will cover the forms and niceties of SCA field heraldry. Tips on pronunciation, dealing with combat
hecklers, short cuts for those long hot lists, and how to entertain the crowd while random stick-jocks look for
their helmets. Everything you need to herd fighters onto and off of the field.<P>

* Armored Combat - There will be an open list field available all day for training in the chivalric arts.
Fighters are required to provide their own marshal.

* There will be an "Ask a Laural" table set up for most of the day. This is for discussions, ideas, advise,
and generally chatting in person with a Laural. Please feel free to bring current projects, ideas, questions, etc.<P>
* Volunteers - If you wish to volunteer your services, please contact the Autocrat.<p>
* Lady Marianna le Fey is hosting a after-revel at her home. Address and directions will be available at checkin.<p>
* The Crane Household is hosting a "do-rag" contest in celebration of Lord Chiang Ti Lung's birthday.
