[Ansteorra-announce] TRF Demo Invitation

Most Noble Lords and Ladies of Ansteorra -- Good Gentles All,

Once again, it is time for the grandest of all SCA Demos -- the Texas
Renaissance Festival.  I am Mistress Shanahan the Fey, called Stormbearer
and I have the honor to be the Arts and Sciences Coordinator for this season
and I do invite you, one and all, to come to the Festival (weekends Oct 6th
thru Nov 18th.)

Bring the finest examples of your works and show off your wondrous talents.
Our dear patrons, the visitors to the SCA booth (#232) deserve the best and
I know that Ansteorra has the best to offer them!

This year, there will be a few changes in the Compound.  The Arts and
Sciences hopes to have its own area, shaded by a eggshell covering garlanded
with bright pennons and greenery.  There will be draped tables to display
your finest creations and space to exhibit -- even demonstrate your artistic
abilities.  Show the patrons how chainmail was linked, lace was made, or
cotton was carded and spun for weaving.... people are fascinated watching
others make something ‘by hand'.

There will also be a competition for the "Artisan of the Week' with prizes
awarded at Court to the winner each weekend.  (This is in addition to any
Arts/Sciences competitions held by the sponsoring group.)

_What_you_need_to_bring_:  Besides your works to display, each artisan needs
to bring a chair or something to sit on (obvious mundanities, of course,
need coverings), and a colorful tablecloth or display cloth to set your
items on.   This second covering serves more than one purpose  -- in
addition to adding bright bits of color to the Compound, it can also be
grabbed up by the four corners and hurried to safety in case of a sudden
storm.

And of course, the TRF rules for the wearing of head-gear and footgear at
ALL times within the Compound remain in effect.  Please check out the

This is the greatest of all Demos and has proven to be quite a recruitment
tool.  And it is up to those of the Arts and Sciences Community to show that
