[Ansteorra-announce] Q & A re auction of Kingdom items and trailer

Below are some questions and answers concerning the auction of items held
in storage by the Kingdom as well as the Kingdom Trailer. I thank you for
your responses and your interest. Some of the items have been claimed.

Q. -- When was the idea of this auction presented?
A. -- The idea has been bandied about for quite some time but was finally
decided upon at the last Roundtable in a meeting specifically on Regalia.
The meeting was open. The decision was made by the Crown with the
approbation of the Kingdom Seneschal and Kingdom Treasurer.

Q. -- Isn't there a Kingdom Arms rule that would prohibit even royalty from
owning some of these pieces?
A. -- There is no Kingdom Law concerning what one may or may not
OWN.  However, ownership does not convey the right to DISPLAY.  It would be
inappropriate for anyone to display anything to which some other
individual, entity or position has the right without permission. Crowns are
not permitted to keep items gifted to the kingdom during their reign or
otherwise because of the prohibition against individuals profiting from the
Society.

Q. -- Where will the proceeds go?
A. -- Kingdom Treasury

Q. --Why is the kingdom selling off it's assets?
A.-- This is not a matter of selling off assets but rather sharing bits of
Ansteorra that spend too much time simply sitting in storage.  This is not
all the regalia by any stretch. If you don't see an item listed that you
believe we have, it is most likely because that item will still get
considerable use.  As far as the trailer goes, the time to replace rapidly
approaches.

Q. -- What will the opening bid be on the trailer?
A. -- $80.00 -- the amount left in depreciation.

Q. -- Has a new trailer been purchased to replace the one that's being
auctioned at Elfsea?
A. -- No. Information is being collected toward that end. Our current Crown
does not need the trailer.

Q. -- Does the trailer need repair and is it repairable?
A. -- Yes and yes. The trailer has some leakage problems and the tongue
stand is bent.

Q. -- Can pictures of the trailer be placed on a web site?
A. -- I am looking into this.
