To the honorable people of Ansteorra,

The Barony of Elfsea will choose its Defenders this weekend (September 27-29) at the Canton First Monday site! This year will be the first with a Children's defender. There will be a Chivalric tourney in the standard Swiss Five format. A Rapier tourney will follow. Throughout the day you may compete in Children's and adult's target archery and live steel competitions. An A&S critique will be staged that you may get criticism prior to Laurels' Prize Tourney and be better prepared. And a competition of displayed (in use) Heraldry will be enjoyed by all. This may include banners, leatherwork, and other display.

The theme this year is Romance. There will be secret judges looking for people who are behaving romantically (not carnally) and rewarding them. Carrying for a lady, displaying exceptionally good manners, reciting poetry to your love, kissing hands and other flourishes all are examples. Feel free to express your romantic feelings in any legal and appropriate manner.

This is also the last year Elfsea will have Culture Camps. We have two such camps organized to date: a Scottish Camp and an Irish-Viking Camp (who would have thought). Anyone may join either camp or camp in the general area.
