Come and compete to become the first Champions for the newly-elevated SHIRE

The 100 Years War rages on, but on this lovely autumn day competitors will
vie to honorably represent their chosen country: England or France.
The Shire of Gate's Edge will choose Champions for:
Heavy Armoured (aka Chivalric) Combat
Winners will receive honor and glory, the acclaim of the populace of Gate's
Edge, pass-down banners, and nifty prizes!
Fighters, come represent your country of choice in our lists, in which honor
and chivalry are as important as combat prowess. The ladies will be watching
from two Ladies Galleries under the tutelage of two Queens of Love. Ladies,
please come and spend some time in our Galleries, enjoy some lovely music
and good company, and inspire the fighters on the field with your grace and
Archers, don't miss the 'skins' tournament which offers plenty of
opportunities for prizes, glory and fun. Rounds will include Clout Archery,
Combat Archery, Hunt Archery, Speed Archery and Target Archery. There will
also be an archery-themed Arts & Sciences competition in which entrants will
received an extra 'life' in the tournament (and the A&S winner will get a
neat prize). There will be lots of archery throughout the day--and if you
know Gate's Edge, you know we are home to some of the finest and most
enthusiastic archers around. Come shoot your best! For more information,
please visit http://gatesedge.ansteorra.org/files/courarchery.htm
For those who prefer Thrown Weapons--knife, axe and spear--never fear,
there's competition afoot for you as well. There will also be an
authorization class, so come give Thrown Weapons a try.
Bards, sing your finest song or tell your best tale as you compete to be the
Bardic Champion of Gate's Edge!

As for the youngsters, there will be lots for them to do as they compete for
our Children's Championship, including a puppet show, treasure hunt, and
more. Children under 5 must be accompanied by a parent.
For something very different, the Honorable Lady Annes Clotilde von Bamburg
will teach a class on period aphrodisiacs and poisons. Herbs are fun!

A Silent Auction will be held, so come out ready to bid, or donate your
'someone else might love this' items.
There will be an evening bardic circle with two phases: the first hour will
be 'family friendly' for all ages, and then later in the evening the circle
