Unto the Populace of Ansteorra , Glory, Honor, and Good Greetings
        The officers, and the populace of the Shire of Middleford humbly request the honor of your presence at the War Chieftain Tournament and the Cavalier of the Bridge Tournament to be held August 27, 28, & 29, A.S. XXXIX.

The War Chieftain Tournament will consist of the following rounds (All of which must be entered to vie for the title of War Chieftain.)

Round 1: Broadsword and shield

Round 2: Single mace, cudgel, or hammer

Round 3: Short sword (no longer than twenty-four inches w/thrusting tip) and round shield (not to exceed twenty-four inches in diameter)

Round 4: Two-Handed ax

Round 5: Thrusting spear and round shield (not to exceed twenty-four inches in diameter)

Round 6: Single broadsword

Round 7: Mace, cudgel, or hammer and shield

Round 8: Ax and round shield (not to exceed twenty-four inches in diameter)

Round 9: Thrusting spear

Round 10: Single short sword (no longer than twenty-four inches w/thrusting tip)

Round 11: The mystery round (TBA at the beginning of the round)

Each combatant will have at least eleven fights this day.

The Cavalier of the Bridge  Tournament will consist of the following rounds ( All of which must be entered to vie for the title of Cavalier of the Bridge .)

Round 1: Single rapier

Round 2: Rapier and dagger

Round 3: rapier and cloak

Round 4: Rapier and buckler

Round 5: Single dagger

Round 6: Florentine Rapiers

Round 7: The mystery round (TBA at the beginning of the round)

Each combatant will have at least seven fights this day.

The format of the tournaments will be decided by the number of the fighters entering the list (i.e. round robin, best two out of three, single elimination, etc.)  the winners of each round will come back to fight the title round, if a fighter has won more than one round he will be granted one extra life per round won.  The title round will be fought with weapons of the fighter's choice.

The prizes for each round of both tournaments have been personally selected by Sir Ian Mac Baird and shall be worthy of the victors.   

      Other Saturday activities will include: an A&S competition (documentation recommended, but not required), Equestrian activities, Archery competition ( as a special treat we will be also be holding a combat archery golf tournament), and a non title Bardic competition. 

    Feast will be an on site cooking competition with four categories: Open, Period, Open Dessert, and Period Dessert.  Prizes will be awarded for each competition. No feast fee will be charged for those entering the competition.

       A parent or legal guardian must accompany minors. They may also attend with a 21-year or older adult with a signed notarized Minor Event Waiver Form from their parents.

        The site for this event is Camp Finlayson, Ft. Hood, TX. Directions and a map are here.Site opens 5:00 p.m. Friday 27 August and closes 5:00 p.m. Sunday 29 August.  Site and Feast fee is $7/$7 for adults, children, 12-5, $4 children, 5 and under, free.  Family site max fee is 3 adults. Make checks payable to SCA, Inc./Shire of Middleford.

        Alcohol in Period Containers only.  Medically required assistance animals and Horses only.  Negative Coggins and Health Certificate are required for all horses. Rabies Certificate required for all others.

     Merchants are always welcome; there are a limited number of pavilions available. Please contact the autocrat for reservations.
