POSITION AVAILABLE - COPYRIGHT DEPUTY


The SCA Board of Directors is currently accepting applications for the position of Society Copyright Deputy, a deputy to the Society Chronicler.  This is an unpaid position normally requiring less than 5 hours per week.

The Copyright Deputy acts as a resource for the Society on all issues of copyright law.  He or she may be consulted by the Corporate Office, Society Chronicler, Society Seneschal, or other corporate and Society officers on questions of copyright for both print and electronic publications.  The Copyright Deputy should either be a legal professional, or someone with experience in the publishing industry, journalism, or academia concerning copyright questions.  Basic familiarity with copyright law outside the United States (particularly Canada and the European Union) would also be an asset.  Other qualifications for the position include excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to explain copyright policy and law to laymen.  Familiarity with SCA publications is also required.

The Copyright Deputy reports to the Society Chronicler and is required to report quarterly, as well as to be available via the Internet to answer questions.
