Movie Demo 5/7: "The Kingdom of Heaven" 
(Cinemark Theatre, Nasa Rd. 1 & I-45 S, Clear Lake, TX) 

Imagine a group of Chivalric Fighters doing a demo the weekend it opens.  Hummm.  

You may wish to hold a demo in your group.  How?  Contact the largest and or nicest movie theater in you area and speak to the Manager.

Bring with you one of the demo materials below and or this paragraph...
The SCA is incorporated in the US as a 501(c)3, not-for-profit educational organization.  It is part of the "living history" movement, which means that SCA members have a "hands-on" approach to history, engaging in activities that help them to explore the culture, arts, and sciences of ages past. The SCA period encompasses pre-17th century Western Europe, with an emphasis on the Middle Ages and Renaissance.

Try to set up the demo for that Fri night or Sat from 5-9pm.   Lots of crowds.  Once you have the manager's ok get at least 4-5 chivalric fighters.  They can help marshal and do crowd control.  You may need an additional 3 marshals as well.  Dress well, look sharp.  Be loud.  Have a spokesperson picked out in case the media shows up and to do heralding of the fights.  Have at least one person handing out a one-sheet on the SCA to folks in the crowd.  These one sheets can be found and even personalized on the New Member/Demo CD's that I handed out and even on the Kingdom web site.

Fighters, when there remember you are playing to the crowd.  Be flash, be loud.  Fall down when killed.  Don't do long drawn out finals-of-Crown-Tournament-fights.  Lots of energy, lots of flair.  This is for recruitment.  If you can swing it, bring a couple of artisans working on garb or even Illuminated manuscripts.  Something visual.  I'm not trying to leave out the Rapier folks but its a Chiv. Movie.   Rapier folks there are movies opening in 2005 that you could shine at as well.

Work with your Local Seneschals and Local Hospitalers.  One month away folks.  This has a short time span.  But a GREAT payoff.
