Greetings unto Ansteorra!

This year, we will be hosting a body of work competition to determine our Baronial
Arts & Sciences champion at our 2005 Candlemas Celebration. Within this category, all entrants will be able to enter as a competitor or as display only. Competitors will be judged using standard Ansteorran judging sheets, and those that elect to simply display his/her works will not be eligible for Baronial champion. It will not be guaranteed that comments will
be left for those that are only displaying work and not competing, but every effort
to do so will be taken into account.

Documentation is required for this competition. This is a very important part of the
Arts & Sciences field, therefore, any entries (competition or display) without
documentation will not be allowed to display. Likewise, a letter of intent is required
to be sent to Baron Thomas of Tenby, and myself by January 21, 2005 by both those
wishing to compete, and those wishing to display. If you do not submit a letter of
intent or if your letter does not reach the required destination by the cut-off date, you
will not be allowed to compete or display. You may send your letter of intent (for
registration and filing purposes to me at scafaelan at yahoo.com,) and you may copy
the email to Baron Thomas at gemartt at mail.texas.edu. If you wish to send a
formal letter of intent to Baron Thomas, you may do that as well.

Formal letters of intent may be sent to:

     G. E. Martt
     1416 Hillcrest Drive
     Austin, Texas  78724

Please make sure that the letter arrives BY January 21, 2005.

It is strongly suggested that all entrants that wish to compete for Baronial Artisan
choose the most current works that exemplify his/her skills in the Arts & Sciences.
If possible, Baron Thomas would also like to have each entrant teach a class, or
perform a demonstration of his/her skills in an art form of which the entrant is displaying.
You may contact Lady Alina Mitchell (AliceMorrowHarris at austin.rr.com) to schedule a class or a demonstration. For registration and filing purposes, please send a copy of your email to me when you register for a class or demo with Lady Alina.

With a body of work competition, each entrant will have table space. Due to a limited
amount of table space, the sooner that you register with me and send your letter of intent,
the more likely you will be able to have your preference on table size. Entrants will be
allowed either a full table or a half-table per request. All requests for table size will be
taken into consideration, but will not be guaranteed due to space limitations. If your
body of work or related demonstration has a special requirement, please note this in
your email. I will attempt to accomodate every request, but please understand that
because of time constraints, space limitations, lay-out, and things beyond my control,
I am not able to guarantee special accomodations.

All entrants (whether competing or displaying) will be required to check in and check out
of the competition with me. When you check in, your work will be checked to make sure
that it meets all of the requirements, so please bring your documentation when you come to
check in. Provided that all of the competition requirements are met, you will then be issued
an entrant's package, and your reserved table space delegated. At the end of the day,
you will be required to check out with me. You will be given a folder containing your
judging sheets. You will then be cleared to remove your body of work from the judging area.
It is imperative that you check in and check out with me at specified times to alleviate any
problems and to make sure that your entry will be valid. The time requirements will be
executed with precision, and will not be on SCA-time. Please be punctual and prepared.

The timetable is as follows:

 9:00AM - Hall Opens; Registration/Check In for A&S Competition begins.

 11:00AM - Registration for A&S Competition closes. No exceptions.

 11:30AM - 3:30PM - Judging of the entries.

 3:45PM - Check Out and completion of the A&S Competition.

 4:00PM - Final Call to clear out A&S.

 4:10PM - A&S Competition closes.

Largess is requested for our artisans! Please support the Arts & Sciences by showing
our artisans that they are appreciated! Children are also encouraged to enter the
competition, and will likewise be judged using standard Ansteorran judging forms.

In your letter of intent, please include the following information:

 - Your Mundane Name;

 - Your SCA Name (including titles, awards, etc.);

 - What your body of work will entail (is it blackwork, or weaving?);

 - Requested table size (full table or half-table);

 - Whether you intend to compete for Baronial Artisan or just display your works;

 - Any special requirements that you may have.

You will also need to speak with Lady Alina (AliceMorrowHarris at austin.rr.com)
regarding a class or demonstration, and a copy of that email should be copied to me
so that I can make sure that your registration is complete.

Please continue to watch for addendums; I do not anticipate any changes to the
whole of the rule-set, but there may be small additions. In the event that these
additions occur, posts will be made to the Ansteorra-Announce list and the
Bryn Gwlad list.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at
scafaelan at yahoo.com. I look forward to hearing from you, and receiving your
letters of intent! I wish you all the best of luck!
