Bryn Gwlad’s fall harvest has been bountiful. Come and share in our
celebration September 28th through 30th, 2007.

Stroll along the winding streets of Castleton, pausing to observe
craftsmen at their work and delight in the efforts of wandering
entertainers. Visit the village’s fine shops, or stop by the Copper and
Silver Pub for the bear-baiting display. Watch dukes and knights,
centurions and knaves strive for the title of Best Fighter in Ansteorra
at Bryn Gwlad’s Fall Baronial. See our equestrians make field stew out
of their opponents, and our archers display the skills they will use to
feed their families this winter.

Enter your produce in the “vegetables of unusual size and shape”
competition or your tent in the non-period pavilion decorating contest.

Gather the fruits of your own labors, and bring them along to barter for
goods and services. (The Baron has issued an edict giving the village
shops the exclusive right to accept coin during the fair, so strolling
players and street vendors alike will be eager to make a trade. Or swap
what you’ve got for what other fair-goers have--a pretty box for a
length of tablet-weaving, a toy boat for a second-hand tunic, a scrap of
scarlet silk for a palmful of aiglets.)

If you find yourself hungering for excitement, visit the pub in the
afternoon, when rival factions often turn from polemic to armed combat,
or wander into the shady parts of town, where shifty-eyed characters
sell letters patent and gambling houses beguile imprudent men and women
of questionable repute. At the end of the day, repair to the Curtain
Theatre, there to be amused by The Baron’s Men as they perform William
Shakespeare’s newest play, “The Comedy of Errors”. Then return to
Castleton to enjoy the laughter and music that drift through its streets
at night.
