[Ansteorra-announce] Ursae Lyons III, Bjornsborg's fall event, October 16-18, 2009

Greetings Ansteorra,

Godwyn and Radegund, Baron and Baroness of Bjornsborg, invite you all to 
attend a grand tournament, Ursae Lyons III and the investiture of their 
successors, the 6th Baron and Baroness of Bjornsborg.

When Lions and Bears Contend, Whose Sword at Last Shall Bend?

This tournament pits the warriors of the Bear field and the Lion field 
against each other.  This is a judgved tournament, so comportment, 
chivalry and heroism are as important as martial prowess.  There will be 
single challenges, small melees, bridge and barrier battles, and grand 
melees, all culminating in a winners-against-the-world melee.

Each combatant in the tournament must send a letter of intent to HE 
Radegund at her postal address (see the Black Star's inside front cover 
under Kingdom Chronicler) or at clternus at sbcglobal dot net to be 
considered as a winner of the tournament, though all who come prepared 
to fight may do so.  Letters may be as simple as emails or as fancy as 
you can make it.  A prize will be given to the letter that pleases 
Radegund most.

Each combatant must also be sponsored by an artisan, as a symbol of his 
or her appreciation of the gentler arts.  the artisan should give a 
token of his or her art to Their Excellencies.  The token may be as 
humble or as grand as you like, from a loaf of newly baked bread to a 
beautifully illuminated manuscript.

In honor of the investiture of the new Baron andBaroness, the theme of 
the Arts and Sciences duathalon competition is "Beginnings and 
Endings."  To enter, the artisan must present one piece on the theme of 
beginnings AND one piece on the theme of endings.

Our head cook is preparing a delicious repast to tempt your palate.

Radegund will also be judging her last pumpkin carving contest as 
Baroness of Bjornsborg.  A limited number of pumpkins will be provided.  
Bring your own tools.
