Ansteorra

The beginning of the New Year will soon be here and with 2014 approaching
so fast I want to bring to everyone’s attention two very important
competitions.

The first is Eisteddfod on January 18th, hosted by Shadowlands. This
competition is where the Premier Bard of Ansteorra will be chosen. The
Eisteddfod theme/competition will be three pieces: One period piece, one
audience participation/inclusion piece and one bring-your-best. A “piece”
can be of any bardic category: vocal song, instrumental song, poem, story,
dance, and so on. All pieces must be no longer than 5 minutes. There will
be extra credit for documentation; extra credit for period-style or period
performance for either of the non-period pieces.

The second is Kingdom Arts and Science on February 8, hosted by Rosenfeld.
This competition is where the Kingdom Artisan is chosen, along with the
entries that will represent Ansteorra at Gulf War. There are three
categories in KA&S, Static, performing arts, and scholarly papers. You can
find the rules for the competition and other information at:
http://moas.ansteorra.org/. Some information you can find there is the
deadline for papers both scholarly and supported research papers, how
supported research papers will be judged, documentation requirements, and
more.

You will be asked to send the Kingdom MOAS some information, SCA name,
mundane name, telephone # description of entry, and more. The exact
questions will be posted in the Black Star, the web page and multiple
Facebook pages. This year there are several laurels that have agreed to
read artisans documentation and look at displays so I advise all artisans
to take advantage of this offer. And as always if you have any questions
please contact me at: moas at ansteorra.org
