Concerning Laurel's Prize Tourney.

We had about 100 artisans who brought a wide variety of pieces, including
the Elizabethan Tailor Shop which was admired by all. The two individuals
who maintain it, Will atte Wood and his 'prentice, Robin Marlowe, are
veterans of the SCA, and received a great deal of praise and admiration.
This is an on-going project they work on and every time they have brought
it out more has been added. They both are personal friends of mine; enjoy
working within more historical reenactment than most. I have the utmost
respect for what they do.
       Other pieces that were displayed included, illuminations and calligraphy;
sculpture, wood and stone, bookbinding tools and bound books, costuming from
the Byzantine period up to Elizabethan. People brought excellent food
items, bonsai, English floor tiles and as much excellent mead as you would
wish to sample. Since Laurel's Prize Tourney is not a competition, there
were no winners but several Laurel's had offered special prizes in various
field. I believe Master Thomas will be listing them in his next report or
if you are really curious please send me e-mail and I will send you the
list.
Forty eight Laurels attended out of about 65 active Laurels. The
Crown and Her Highness attended and were greatly impressed. There was a
White Scarf meeting and a Laurel's Circle as well. There were no major
problems, everything ran very smoothly with a minimum of confusion.
I know I speak for Master Thomas in thanking everyone for
participating and helping out. Their Excellencies, the Baron and Baroness
of Elfsea were kind and gracious hosts.
Rather than tie up a lot of time and space, I will be happy to
respond to personal inquiry. Those who did not attend may want to plan for
the next one.... this was the third. LPT are supposed to alternate with
Kingdom Arts and Sciences. Any incorrect information is my own and
not some one else's.
