 "MC> You can DO that?

 "MC> Hmm.

Yes, you can resign an award. However, Galen is incorrect on procedure. To
quote Corpora:

<quote>
VII.B.2.c. An armiger may resign any award or order. To do so requires a
written statement, sent to the current royalty of the level which bestowed the
award, the Principal of the Order, if any, and to the Principal Herald.
</quote>

Also, to be sure the records are kept straight, you should send a copy to the
Zodiacus Herald.

Only in the case of a Patent is it required to write to the Board (VII.A.3.a).

 "MC> BTW, as an interesting aside (note, I am simply relating this, not
 "MC> advocating it), if you were to take the Current SCA Rank
 "MC> Structure, lose the "Lord" thing below the Peerage Level, drop the
 "MC> Knights, Pelicans and Laurels out of the Peerage, to form the
 "MC> "Knightly Rank", and then having a Peerage made up of Barons
 "MC> (Landed and Court), Kings, Dukes, and Counts. Oh yes, and consider
 "MC> only those people without and AoA as freeborn peasants (everyone

I sure wish you had posted this a few weeks ago when I was getting flogged here
for my opinions about the incorrectness of our merit badge system.
