Names, Meanings, and the Web

Heilsa, All.

OK, glad to have the info that the Web site with the names is a
crock. But reading the critique led me to wonder if it might not be useful
for some experts to compile and post *good* lists out there instead.

I've been looking at my copy of Geirr Bassi Haraldsson's name book,
and the one glaring problem I have with it is that the given names do not
have meanings given, although the nicknames section does. I've been
considering researching and putting together a list of the meanings of the
names anyway (having been asked several times in the last month to decipher
meanings in Old Norse names). Has anyone already done this? Daniel or
other heralds, do ya'll know?

I plan eventually to put together a Web page and post all my past
columns from The Viking Answer Lady's archives. If I do put together a
"Norse Baby Name Book" I'll certainly add it to the Web page (or have Stefan
li Rous add it to his encyclopaedic archive site).
